I have a great idea for an arts project, but I’m not a 501(c)3; am I eligible to receive funding? Yes, you must be able to provide documentation that you are in the process of obtaining your nonprofit status. We suggest applying for a technical assistance grant to start with a strong foundation for success.

I am having a tough time tracking down all necessary paperwork. May I hand in the required paperwork after I submit the grant? Unfortunately, you may not. A grant submission is not intact without all required documents and we cannot accept anything past the deadline, as it affects other re-grant applicants.

May I apply for more than one grant? You may only apply for one arts and one history grant per cycle.

What documents will I be required to include in my application? Resumes/Bios of key staff and personnel ADA Plan (if applicable) Discrimination Policy (if applicable) Supporting Materials – This refers to any additional materials that you feel could help support your project proposal (brochures, pamphlets, programs, flyers, data sheets, etc.)

How much money may I apply for? Our technical assistance grants may fund up to $1000.00; both our special project & general operating grants are up to $25,000.00.

Is there a matching fund requirement or any co-funding needed? Currently, there is no match requirement.

How is scoring applications handled? In an effort to keep scoring fair for all, the Salem County Cultural & Heritage Commission hires professionals outside of Salem County to assess your application, past history with our grants (if applicable), measurable impact with the community, as well as how robust & detailed your proposal is without bias.

I’m struggling with my project. What should I do? Communication is key. Salem County Cultural & Heritage Commission is here to assist you with any issues that may arise. We are a resource, beyond grants, for Salem County’s cultural landscape.

We have to make some changes to the project we applied for. What should we do? Again, communication is key. You may make minimal changes with the commission’s approval to ensure your project is a success. For any amendments to the scope of your application/project, please contact us first.

Can I collaborate with other organizations or individuals on the proposed project? Absolutely. Please include your co-collaborator in your grant application. If in the process of completing your project, you need to leverage your relationships with other organizations to be successful, please communicate with us prior to forming any partnerships.
